Day 22 Trip to the ER

Well Kayson was up most of the night. He wasn't actually awake. He just kept crying in his sleep. I took his temperature at 5:30 and it was 103.7. So I was getting concerned. I gave him some tylonel and he actually went back to sleep until 8:00. When he woke up he was acting like himself and didn't have a fever or anything. He wouldn't eat breakfast though and he wouldn't even drink his milk. Which is a huge red flag with him. So I took his temp and it was 100.2. Not to bad. A lot better than 103.7. I asked my Mom to stay home from church to watch Kenna in case I decided to take him in. So we got the girls ready for church and I fed the kids lunch. Once again Kayson wouldn't eat or drink. No matter how much water or juice I was giving him. He just wouldn't touch it. I started taking his temp every 15 minutes. Right before 12:30 I took it and it was 103.2. I decided it was time to take him in. We got the emergency room and you could just tell he was miserable. The nurse gave him some motrin and we waited for the doctor. He came in and listened to his lungs than ordered a chest x-ray. By then the motrin was kicking in and his fever was coming down. He was so good while they took his x-rays. The tech actually made me feel good. She looked at me and asked if there was any chance I was pregnant. Well since I think I am huge it made me feel good. I stood outside the door where Kayson could see me while they did the x-rays. When we got back to the room he wanted to watch cartoons again. He wasn't all red and flushed and his eyes weren't glossy anymore so I will feeling better. He actually fell asleep for a while. The doctor came in and confirmed his pneumonia and said we were going to start some new antibiotics. The nurse came in and gave him a shot in the leg of Rocephin. Then we had to wait for 15 minutes to make sure he didn't have any reaction to it. We left the hospital and headed to Wal-Mart to get his other prescriptions. He is on another antibiotic and codine with Phenegran. The later is to help control his cough. While we were at the store we got him some Gatorade and his own cup with pull top lid so he could carry his juice around with him. He really has to be drinking. We also picked up the rest of Daniel's Valentine's Day presents so I can mail his box to him. By the time we got home Kayson was acting like himself. He actually tried to eat a little bit and was drinking a lot. I gave him his first medicine which makes him drowsy. Than the kids played the wii while waiting for bedtime. After a while Kayson just wanted to lay on the couch. When I said I was going to put Kenna in bed he got his blanket and said he wanted to go to bed too. Poor guy. Than it was time to get the girls in bed. It went really smooth except that Kenna is still upstairs crying. She has gotten really used to getting out of her bed and sleeping with Mommy. I haven't had the energy to fight her. But tonight she gets to stay in her bed. I need some actual sleep. Now that Kayson is on some stronger antibiotics maybe he will start to get rid of the this nasty pneumonia. I feel so bad for him. I love my kids and am so grateful that I am able to stay home and take care of them.
