The Aguilar's: Days 69 and 70 Fun at the Zoo

Friday was day 69 and it was not a fun day. It was officially my first melt down day since Daniel left. It started with McKadi waking me up telling me MaKayla was throwing up everywhere. Sure enough she was. So my morning was spent dealing with throw up and cleaning the carpets. While I was busy with that McKayson went out to my brothers house and decided the turtle and fish were hungry. So he fed them Sour Patch Kids. Yeah probably not in their recommended diet. By the time I figured it out it was time for McKadi to go to school. McKadi went out to see what the turtle was like and promptly came back in to tell me the turtle was dead. Great just what I needed. So that set me off. I was tired and not ready for any dead animals. So I sat on the couch with Diet Coke and a bag of Cheez its. Yay it was that bad!!!!! I laid down for a about an hour. When I woke up Jordan told me the turtle wasn't dead. Okay at least that went well. The rest of the evening really wasn't too bad. I had just let the stress build up and get to me.

Saturday. Day 70. Trip to the Hogle Zoo in Salt Lake City, Utah. This day started super early for me. MaKenna woke up at 5:30. She was thirsty. So I figured I might as well get stuffed packed and get ready for the day. I woke the kids up a little after 6:30 to get ready. We finally made it out the door and on the road about 8:00. It took about 2 1/2 hours to get to the zoo. 30 miles from the zoo MaKenna woke up and just cried and cried until we got there. It was a chilly day. The first thing we did was ride the train. MaKenna loved it. She got so mad when we got off. The next stop was the gift shop so Grandma could get a sweater. She had planned on being cold. The first animals we saw were the little monkeys.

The kids thought they were so awesome. We spent a long time looking at the elephants and the giraffes. MaKenna's favorite part was the elephants. McKadi's favorite was the snakes. McKayson loved the giant tortoises. MaKayla just loved all the animals. After seeing the elephants we got some lunch. I had packed a cooler that morning and it was nice to just be able to sit and eat. It was so cold that it started to snow while we were eating lunch. So after lunch we spent a lot of time at the inside exhibits. The kids went on the Carousel ride. MaKenna did not think it was fun at all. She cried almost the entire time. After seeing the giraffes everyone was pretty tired and ready to go home. So we made a last stop at the gift shop and everyone got to pick something. McKadi picked a purse with a white tiger in it. MaKayla picked a purple giraffe. McKayson picked a hamster that rolls around in it's own ball. He named it bolt. MaKenna picked a purple elephant that she promptly used as a pillow and fell asleep. It was snowing really hard by the time we made it to the car. Before we got out of Salt Lake it had stopped and the ride home was smooth. Everyone was so tired they slept all the way home. It was a really fun day and the kids will hopefully remember it forever. The pictures are all out of order but they tell the tale of our day at the zoo.

MaKenna developed a relationship with this turtle. She followed it the whole length of the glass and would just keep talking to it as they went back and forth.

The huge elephant that also made noise. McKayson wouldn't sit on his nose to take a picture. I think it scared him. The sounds were a little frightening.
